Characterization of polyurethane structure–property relationships has historically been focused on biostable formulations. This chapter will provide an overview of the effect of polyurethane structure on physical properties with an emphasis on biodegradable polyurethane elastomers.

Polyurethane thermoplastic elastomers offer several advantages over other polymeric materials including tunable mechanical properties, excellent fatigue strength, and versatile processing. AbstractPolyurethane (PU) elastomers represent an important class of segmented copolymers.
